Ciprofloxacin 200 mg/tablet

Each Tablet contains:

Ciprofloxacin HCl.H₂O           233 mg

Excipients q.s.ad.              

Indications:

For the treatment of local or systemic infections, in dogs and cats, produced by microorganisms sensitive to Ciprofloxacin, such as osteomyelitis, arthritis, endodarditis, gastroenteritis, external otitis, respiratory and urinary tract infections, etc.

Dosage:

It is recommended 1 tablet every 20 kg of weight / 12 hours (10 mg / kg of weight as average dose), for 7 days, period that can be modified according to the criteria of the acting Professional.

In cutaneous affections, infections of the urinary tract or osteomyelitis, its use may be required for a longer period (2 – 3 weeks), according to the criteria of the acting professional.

Precautions:

Collateral effects may be observed such as gastrointestinal signs (vomiting, diarrhea or soft heces), but they are not common. Its administration is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones. It is recommended not to administer in pregnant or lactating females or in puppies unless the severity of the infection warrants it. In puppies younger than 8 months, its administration can cause damage to the joint cartilages. In large breeds and giant dogs, its use is not recommended until 18 months. It is advisable to keep patients well hydrated during their administration as it tends to form crystals in the urine.
